I was listening to a Sudanese man last night over dinner. He was talking about how he recently heard a soldier explain in a speech why he left his PhD program in the UK to fight. He thought that a degree would mean nothing if he wasn't free. There was a lot of clapping and agreement in the crowd.
The man I was speaking with had his chance to address the crowd next. He heartily agreed with the soldier that freedom is what they are all wanting. He went on to mention that there needs to be caution that the South doesn't replace one oppressor for another. A fair government must be established that doesn't repeat past offenses. Again, there was much applause.
