Tomorrow Michael is briefly going to Sudan. He is bringing Kim Stampalia and the 3 Bundibugyo interns. Scott and Luke Myhre will also get the opportunity to visit Mundri this time.
This is a picture of the vehicle they intended to drive to Kampala. Ok, the hood is held on by a strap, but that's not the biggest problem. Now Michael says the wheel is about to fall off. If he can get it to Kampala, then a mechanic can work on it. The question is whether or not it can make it.
As I picked up my camera to take a picture of the car, I dropped it on the floor and the lens went flying. It is still functioning, but you can see my finger in the picture as I hold in the broken parts.
We've got a lot of broken things. We'll try to fix them. In the bigger scheme of things-We are broken things in a world of brokenness. You don't have to look far to see it. It's a good thing that God has a plan to restore all things and make them new.
Scotty Smith & Steven Curtis Chapman have written a book called "Restoring Broken Things: What happens when we catch a vision for the new world Jesus is creating". Twice this past year we've been able to listen as Scotty reminded us about the ways God is fixing this mess we are all in and it gave us hope.
Pray with Michael and this group as they go to Sudan this week. 1) That they'd make it there, and 2) that when they see the brokenness in themselves and in Sudan, they would catch a vision of what God is doing in the midst of it all and be filled with hope.

Love the picture! It makes me homesick for all of you as we remember so many Uncle Michael adventures or driving this car with motherless babies to the hospital in BGO. We read the book out loud during our many long driving stretches on our Great Adventure. We love y'all... (I'm slipping back into my southern accent.)
