Surprise Preaching (Dec 7, 2008)

We finally got to church on time.  We’ve had miscommunication on the real starting time.  Michael had been asked to preach, but then was told that there are other visitors around who are going to preach, so he didn’t prepare.  After we arrived, Michael was called out.  When he came back, he was ushered up to the front as the preacher.  He had a good 15 minutes to think it through.  Supposedly, the visitors were going to be late and Michael was on again.

He did great. Advent means “Coming”. He reminded us all that Jesus “Has come” , “Is Coming”, and “Will Come”.  We rejoice in the salvation granted by His coming to earth as a baby.  We rejoice that He continually comes to us through His Spirit.  We have hope that He is coming again to fix all that is broken. Jesus encourages at the end of Revelation a few times, “I am coming…”  Let us prepare our hearts.
