Puppy (24 January 2009)

 

Bismark called yesterday and said he found us a girl puppy in Juba the color of burnt bricks.  We asked him to bring her home for us.  We are all waiting for their arrival.  Names are flying around fast and furious.  No one agrees on anyone elses name.  We’ll just have to get to know her a bit first.  Margarita, Roxy, Shaka, Bundi, Fireflower, Piripiri, Melody, and my personal favorite: Baracka, are all out there.

Nanette says, make sure you come up with a name that that is easy to say when you call her. Or, a name that can be shortened easily for calling. (she suggest "Margarita" shortened to "Rita" or "Maggie".) For example, we never yell, "Come, Queen Lucy the Valiant!" We just shorten it to "Luuu-ccceee!" And then she ignores us and keeps sniffing around the back yard.
