Building us up

WHM's Executive Director, Bob Osborne and our Ministry Director, Josiah Bancroft along with his wife Barbara, spent much of this past month in Africa. Our field director, Scott Myhre and his family came from Kenya. They began with meetings in Uganda involving the leadership of Christ School Bundibugyo.  It was exciting to hear how that school is moving along and producing high-scoring graduates who are being proactive in their community: creating their own primary school and defending the vulnerable.

Next, the team leaders from the Bundibugyo team, Kenya team, the new Burundi team (focusing on medical work), South Sudan and the new Church Planting Specialist met together.  Our directors have a ridiculuous number of combined years of leadership so they have tons to offer us.  They have served on various teams, have worked through conflict,  seen the power of Christ in relationships and ministry, fed and nurtured many, planted churches, and ran organizations throughout the globe. In 4 days, they passed on as much knowledge as they could.
We were able to talk about teams and what we covenant together.
We were reminded of the WHM Strategic Plan to Growth, Strengthen, and Unite.
  • Grow: It seems that our mission may double in size as a mission over the next 5 years.
  • Strengthen: We need to gear ourselves up structurally for the the influx of interested personnel.
  • Unite:  The beauty of WHM lies in the fact that it stresses renewal of the hearts AND missions.  As our hearts are renewed, we are moved toward mission.  Also, as we minister in missions, we are forced to look to Christ and we find renewal in His presence.  We would like to actively make sure the unity between renewal and mission continues.

Pray for our mission as a whole as we Grow, Strengthen, and Unite.
Pray for our mission also, as we will need $270,000 by the end of May to reach our budget for this fiscal year.

Finally, as teams, we were able to share what was going on in our teams and had the opportunity to pray for each other.

After the team leaders met, we were honored to have our leadership follow us back to South Sudan.  We piled into a caravan for our 3 hour flight.

After our bodies and bags were weighed, we waited to fly

The ECS church leaders & board members met the WHM leaders

It was so hot, we took some time at the river to chill

We are grateful for the blessing of strong, gracious leadership!  We are grateful for the time they took to join us in Mundri!
