Charred ground

Our growing team in Mundri is seeking a place to settle. The land we
have been given to build on by the Episcopal Church of Sudan was all
bush. The team and some friends have been trying to clear the area
with axes, hoes, and chain saw. The power of fire has been unleashed
on the area, a traditional form of land clearing. Now the ground is
black and full of stumps that need to be dug out. Truck loads of sand
are being dumped at the site to make cement. Our plan is to make a
little family house, a few small round bandas with two bedrooms and a
sitting room for the singles, a round building for a common kitchen/
eating area/meeting area, some latrines, and a storage shed.

All we see now is the charred ground, but we look forward to much more.
