The convention requires massive amounts of food prep. The pots used to cook the staple grain, dura, were enormous and needed 2 people wielding huge mingling sticks to mix it. They each jump around the pot and stir while those waiting for their turn sing for the whole process to remain in rhythm.
They were generous to give us lessons.
In another area ladies were cooking up loads of beef.
