Kampala Arrival (16 February 2009)

Larissa and Ian arrived in Kampala yesterday and bought phones today, calling to say they made it!  They’ve got plenty to keep them busy until they fly here Thursday morning:  bank accounts, requiring more documentation then they have, and special permits to have Uganda as our WHM base, etc.

In the meantime, the compound is a serous construction site.  The new windows, and new ceiling have already transformed one of the tukuls. Michael and the kids did mudding and white washing on Saturday.  More painting continues today.  Ian’s tent is all the rage and my family will be sad to hand it over to him.  One full screen side is quite the hit on these dry hot nights.  The fence around the compound is 3/4 finished.  Ian and Larissa will never know the place as a fishbowl.   The latrine wall is being busted down now for the second door to be added.   This place will be pretty spiffed up when they reach Mundri.  We are excited.
