First Dinner (Tuesday, Nov 11)

The whole family was quite excited about our first dinner in our own home and the familiarity of American style food.  You’d think the twisted pasta with a jar of processed cheese that we had brought from Kampala was filet mignon.  I had kind of forgot about the whole electricity/still-like-camping experience we were in.  Once it was time to prepare dinner, it was dark and there are no lights.  Acacia discovered that if you turn your headlamp toward the ceiling, you have great illumination and you are not blinding anyone.  So that is how the setting of the table and cooking progressed.  Once the pasta and local orange slices (tart, yet sweet) were put on the table we were able to turn off our headlamps and eat by candlelight.  All the kids wanted to pray and thank God for our home and meal.  It was quite a meal!

That sounds like quite a meal. Reading your blogs have challenged us to re-think what we are thankful for: twisted pasta and tents in which you can stand upright.

Love you,
