Rust is out, Blue is in

Boreholes around here are generally made of galvanized iron (GI) pipes.   Most of the maintenance issues revolve around rusted pipes. This week Christine and Michael along with the water committee in Mundri replaced a GI pipe with a PVC pipe (plastic).  PVC is lighter, half the price of GI, and won't rust!

Michael will be working with the county water office to replace more rusty GI pipes with PVC.  The users will contribute to the purchasing of the pipes, promoting sustainability and ownership.  WHM will assist purchasing and shipping the pipes, transporting the technicians and supplies to the sites, and providing the welding machine for the welding of the handpumps.  The water office will provide the technicians.  Team work.
