Air Force Major General Scott Gration has been appointed the U.S. special envoy for Sudan. He seems to have grown up in Kenya as a missionary kid. Traveling with Obama in 2006, he visited Dafurian refuguees in Chad. It supports the deployment of African Union/UN peacekeeping forces and using political negotiation to bring about peace in Darfur. The US remains committed to working with Sudan to maintain the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that has brought peace in the South.
